WhatsApp scams are nothing new and countless people are falling victim to this scam. You don’t need to be a genius to distinguish between those who know what they are doing and those who don’t, but it is interesting that a software engineer is scammed over WhatsApp. An Indian software developer has lost tens of thousands of dollars over WhatsApp scams that promised to get rich by liking YouTube videos.

WhatsApp scam and software engineer

An unfortunate software engineer from Gurgaon, India, and his wife lost about $51,000 in total. According to some, the software developer, who lost his life savings, lost this money through WhatsApp and Instagram. The victim received a message on WhatsApp claiming they could make more money by joining a part-time job where they needed to like videos on YouTube. It looks pretty simple, right?

But things change here. The scammers asked the engineer to deposit money into their account later in the process, and the software engineer complied with this request. The scammers claimed that the victim managed to win $83,000 after taking the money. However, they asked for some more money from them in order to receive this money. Realizing the incident, the victims reported the situation to the police. However, in the light of the available information, it is unclear whether the software engineer got his money back.

These WhatsApp scammers usually start with a greeting, and after responding, follow up with a very attractive job offer that on paper looks like it will make you a lot of money. Without exception, those who believe in this offer are losing serious money. Simply put, there is absolutely no way you can land any job that claims to make you rich on WhatsApp or any other social media. For this reason, you should avoid and ignore such suspicious situations from people you do not know or people you know.
