Fighting games usually continue to enter our lives at certain intervals. But Fatal Fury is hardly one of them. The last game of the series, Garou: Mark of Wolves, appeared in the arcades in 1999. Garou later came to Neo Geo in 2000 and then Dreamcast in 2001. After more than 20 years, publisher SNK reported that they are working on your new Fatal Fury game.
Fatal Fury sequel coming after 20 years
The Fatal Fury series is an important part of both SNK and fighting game history. Fatal Fury: King of Fighters, the first game of the series, had a big break when Street Fighter 2 dominated. Designed by Takashi Nishiyama, the creator of the original Street Fighter, Fatal Fury differed from its counterparts with its storytelling. It would not be wrong to say that Fatal Fury gave birth to the most popular brand of fighting games, The King of Fighters series. Some of the characters in Fatal Fury were also featured in many games, including KoF.
EA will not use micropayments in single player games
In the very short announcement video made by SNK, no release date or story-oriented information is given. But in the video, we see the signature of Aki Senno, known as Tonko, who we know from the Last Blade, King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown and Metal Slug series, who has been working with SNK for over 25 years. Of course, those who love Fatal Fury will recognize him from this series, so it’s a nice detail to see Senno in the making of the new game.
While the revival of the Fatal Fury legend is exciting for fans, fighting games have evolved and changed in the last two decades. There is intense competition and only time will tell what Fatal Fury will do in this competition.
