With the Samsung Exynos thrown into the background, Qualcomm, which has an important place in the mobile chip world, has produced successful products with the chips it has developed in recent years. The company, which got ahead of Apple with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, will play the lead again with the 8 Gen 3 chipset.

8 Gen 3 tested with Geekbench 6

In the past months, the engineering sample of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has been compared to the Apple A16 on Geekbench 5. The processor, which surpassed the A16 in these tests, once again passed a similar test. Geekbench 6 scores shared by @korean_riceball tests the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on a Xiaomi engineering sample. The 8 Gen 3 scores 2563 single-core points and 7256 multi-core points in this test. The Apple A16, on the other hand, scores 2528 single-core points and 6502 multi-core points in the same test.

Offering an 11% performance advantage over the A16, 8 Gen 3 owes this performance increase to the new core configuration. According to reports, this chipset will have a Cortex-X4 core and 5 additional performance cores. Qualcomm’s 1+5+2 configuration seems to have caused a serious increase in the performance of the chipset. The processor, which will be produced in TSMC’s N4P 4nm process, will not have problems with heating and energy efficiency, despite the additional performance core.

Although Qualcomm’s new flagship processor is ahead of the A16 processor, Apple is expected to introduce the world’s first 3nm mobile processor, the A17 Bionic, before the end of the year. With the 3nm process, Apple will give the A17 chip a serious performance boost.
