Snakes, which many do not dare to come near, actually had their own feet between 100 and 150 million years ago. These days, crawling snakes, especially boa and python species, still have very small foot bones towards their tails.

Pan’s quest to see snakes again began in a pet shop, primarily to understand how reptiles walk. Examining how lizards walk here, Pan then transferred the same walking style to the robot feet he developed. This four-legged system with a pipe in the middle was quite simple at the moment.

Pan then went to a person who had spent time with snakes for a long time and tried to get one of the resident snakes into the pipe. The snake did not want to enter the pipe at first, but eventually it did. Even when the snake was completely inside the pipe, the feet were activated and the foot snakes were back for a moment.

Of course, the developed feet were not controlled by the snake. It was Pan himself who controlled the feet. So the snake was only a traveler on these legs. But who knows, maybe the science world may have found a new focus thanks to this video going viral. Prosthetic legs connected to the nervous system of snakes may become a reality in the coming years.
