Smartphone sales will continue to decline
According to Counterpoint Research analysts, there are several reasons for the decline in smartphone sales in Europe. This is the ongoing chip shortage in China, compounded by new lockdown restrictions, the worsening economic situation, and the geopolitical situation. Analysts expect smartphone shipments in the European market to continue to decline further.
South Korean company Samsung continues to be the leader of the smartphone market in Europe. Deliveries decreased by 16% in the last quarter. While Apple recorded a 6% drop in iPhone sales, shipments of Xiaomi smartphones fell 36%. Meanwhile, China’s Realme has managed to be the only company among the top five smartphone manufacturers to increase its shipments year-on-year.
