TikTok, which continues to be the most popular social media platform with millions of users worldwide, is also the center of various social researches of scientists. The team, which worked on TikTok in the focus of users, this time became researchers from the Universities of Trinidad and Tobago.
Researchers aimed to reveal the most obvious signs of addiction to TikTok in their new study with 173 TikTok users. The study, which was conducted by analyzing the data of a total of 354 people, 313 of whom were Facebook users, revealed an important result.

Users who participated in the study, having obsessive thoughts about the application, feeling the urge to use the application more, personal using the app to forget problems, failing to reduce app use, feeling restless or upset when using the app is banned, and using the app in this way negatively impacts school or work.
With the answers given, 68.2% of TikTok users who participated in the study were deemed ‘risk-free’ for TikTok addiction. On the other hand, 25.4% of the users were classified as ‘low risk’ and 6.4% as ‘risky’. It was observed that users in the risky class tended to score higher on loneliness and extraversion measures. It was also revealed that female TikTok users are more likely to be at risk than male users.
