The Microsoft Activision Blizzard agreement, which has been on the gaming agenda recently, is not wanted by major competitors in the market, such as Sony, on the grounds that it is anti-competitive. Microsoft needs to get approval from three major courts to complete this deal. Today, it has been reported that an important way has been covered for the agreement. Let’s take a look at the details of the news together.
Significant improvement in Microsoft Activision Blizzard deal!
According to the news of Reuters, the European Commission is preparing to approve the agreement due to the competitive commitments Microsoft has made, especially regarding Call of Duty. The company’s commitments to Nintendo and Nvidia for Call of Duty created a positive mood for the purchase, as it offers 100 percent content equality and a 10-year deal.
The final decision from the European Commission will come before 24 April. Microsoft, which has faced many competitors in the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, can change the mood again with a positive decision from the EU. Still, the company has to persuade the US Federal Trade Commission and the UK Competition Authority to complete the deal.
The company stated that there was no demand from the European Commission to sell some of its assets, unlike the USA, for the approval of the agreement. In addition, Microsoft made the following statements on the subject:
“We are committed to providing effective and easily applicable solutions that address the concerns of the European Commission. Our commitment to provide Sony, Steam, Nvidia and others with long-term 100 percent equal access to Call of Duty preserves the benefits the deal brings to gamers and developers and increases competition in the marketplace.”
Although the situation seems to be positive in the European Commission, it is not the same in the UK. The UK Competition and Trade Commission has previously requested Microsoft to buy only a certain share of Activision Blizzard. For this reason, it seems that it will take a long time to reach full agreement in the agreement.
In the USA, there are positive developments for Microsoft. As of this morning, the company will be able to request documents to review Sony’s deals. Microsoft will now have access to detailed details of PlayStation’s exclusive game deals and Sony’s talks to stop the deal.
