Changed monetization terms on X (Twitter)
According to the statement made by X’s official support account, the eligibility threshold for advertising revenue sharing has been reduced from 15 million impressions to 5 million impressions in the last 3 months. The minimum payment threshold has also been lowered from $50 to $10.
Clarifying the development, X’s boss Elon Musk repeated that only views from verified accounts are taken into account. The reason for this is the danger of artificial viewing with bots. Therefore, only the views obtained from X Premium accounts are monetized.
Although not entirely clear, impressions refer to the total number of views or interactions of a tweet. This is very important for brands advertising on the platform, as it helps them gather information about the total number of views of their message, even if users did not engage with the tweet.
In June, the platform said it would soon begin paying for ads in responses to posts shared by verified creators, with the first payment block to be around $5 million. “Remember that the creator must be verified and only ads served to verified users will count,” Musk said at the time.
