Nvidia and MediaTek announced that they have signed a partnership for “next generation connected cars”. Artificial intelligence-oriented experiences are promised with computing products to be offered to giant automobile manufacturers. In addition, it is aimed that the tools will be more capable in terms of software.
Next-generation connected car technology from Nvidia and MediaTek
MediaTek has been focusing on the automotive industry for a while with Dimensity Auto to connect cars. Announced as part of Computex 2023, the Nvidia partnership brings artificial intelligence, cloud computing and graphics technology to the automobile industry.
The agreement between the two companies addresses the integration of Nvidia’s artificial intelligence and RTX GPU patents into MediaTek’s chips used in the automotive industry. After this integration, cars are expected to receive important features in the field of artificial intelligence.
MediaTek; Drive OS will be able to use Nvidia’s software, including Drive IX, Cuda, and TensorRT machine learning. These software, which will run in Dimensity Auto, will be used in the infotainment and security functions of the vehicles.
MediaTek’s Dimensity Auto platform now powers the Auto Cockpit, which features multiple displays, high dynamic range cameras and audio processing. However, the company aims to strengthen its presence in the automobile world by incorporating Nvidia’s technologies.
According to research firm Gartner, the infotainment chips market for vehicles will reach $12 billion in 2023. We do not know which automakers will test the collaboration between Nvidia and MediaTek first.
