According to Bloomberg’s report, Blizzard has canceled the World of Warcraft mobile game. Developed in collaboration with Blizzard’s Chinese publishing partner NetEase, the game was in development for three years before a conflict over funding terms stalled the project.

According to Bloomberg, the World of Warcraft mobile game was codenamed “Neptune” and was supposed to be a mobile spin-off of the MMORPG.

The cancellation decision could hit Blizzard’s ambitions for mobile platforms. In May, developer Warcraft announced Arclight Rumble as a “mobile action strategy game” and in June released Diablo Immortal, which was a hit despite its much-discussed monetization model.

Blizzard and NetEase have been partners since 2008. The two co-developed Diablo Immortal, NetEase publishes Blizzard games like Hearthstone and World of Warcraft in China, and the company is also a stakeholder in Blizzard’s Overwatch League, which owns the current world champion Shanghai Dragons.
