TSMC can be bombed
As we saw in the Russia-Ukraine example, the question on everyone’s minds in a possible Taiwan invasion by China is what will happen to TSMC. It is very difficult to predict the crisis that may arise when China is now ahead of the chip race by accessing the best technologies, but hindering Western designers. Authorities state that a 1 trillion dollar blow will be dealt to the chip industry.
In such a crisis, the United States will undoubtedly take the biggest blow. Authorities are already starting to think about what to do about TSMC. Some officials propose to remove TSMC staff and equipment from the country before the invasion. Another part is very radical.
This segment wants TSMC facilities to be bombed and rendered unusable. Thus, China will not get anything. The issue has also reached the ears of Taiwanese authorities. Taiwan security chief, who made a statement, states that TSMC facilities are very complex and production can be made with the integration of global elements. If components from the Netherlands and the USA are blocked, production will also come to a standstill. So there is no need for a bombing situation. Still, the danger of China seems to continue to worry the chip industry.
