Getir, one of the fastest growing enterprises in our country with fast package delivery, opened offices abroad one after another during the pandemic period. A shocking decision came from Amsterdam to the Getir platform, which opens to many cities such as London, New York and Lisbon.
Obstacle to Getir in Amsterdam
The Amsterdam city administration will not allow the opening of new warehouses, which are called dark rooms and used as distribution centers by express delivery companies, for a year. In addition to Get in the City, services such as Zapp, Gorillas, and Flink are also available. The decision will particularly hit fast-growing delivery companies.
Product warehouses, which prefer city centers for fast delivery, drew the reaction of city residents due to the noise of delivery drivers, vehicles occupying the sidewalks or late delivery trucks. There were around 30 delivery points in the city. Moreover, since it was not operated as a market, no license was required.
The city administration will evaluate issues such as whether to allow new delivery points or under what conditions they will be allowed for a 1-year period. By next year, it is expected that the terms of opening a delivery warehouse will be determined.
