Welly’s, a Shiba Inu-themed fast food restaurant located in Naples, Italy, plans to expand globally, according to a recent tweet. The firm claimed it received “hundreds” of requests to open more franchises last week.

Last week, Shiba Inu developer Shytoshi Kusama announced a partnership with the Naples-based burger restaurant. The Burger restaurant has undergone a complete rebrand and made the meme cryptocurrency its official mascot. Welly also announced that it will accept Shiba Inu as a payment option and will also consider adding support for rival Dogecoin.

The Shiba Inu community can take part in the management of the chain through a decentralized autonomous organization called DOGGY DAO, the first phase of which was launched in early December.

The Shiba Inu team is touting Welly as a healthy fast food option that sets it apart from big chains like McDonald’s and Burger King. The one-store restaurant, which opens its doors in 2021, will also offer its customers free tokens to access “exclusive benefits.”

Meanwhile, SHIB rose 19% in the last 24 hours and 54% in the last week. While it may seem impossible for Welly’s partnership to spur such a massive rally, there are other developments in the Shiba Inu’s ecosystem. As we reported yesterday, blockchain solutions provider Unification Foundation recently announced that after months of anticipation, a public testnet of the Shibarium Layer 2 solution will be launched in the near future.

Shiba Inu also announced its entry into the Metaverse with the “Shiberse” project in late January.
