The Shiba Inu (SHIB) ecosystem has been experiencing enthusiasm in anticipation of the Shibarium launch recently. However, this excitement seems to have faded with the emergence of a concern for the Shibarium Blockchain. A community member pointing out an issue with the Shibarium code led to the downfall of SHIB and ecosystem tokens BONE, LEASH. Here are the details…

Shiba Inu community member pointed to an issue with Shibarium

Shiba Inu (SHIB) prices have dropped 10 percent in the last 24 hours amid the drama surrounding the codebase of the upcoming Shibarium Blockchain. As Cryptokoin.com also reported, the long-awaited layer-2 project released the beta version for the Shibarium Blockchain last week. A beta testnet is a blockchain that mimics real-world operation. Layer-2 refers to a set of off-chain systems (separate Blockchains) built on top of layer-1 protocols that reduce congestion with scaling and data.

But the enthusiasm surrounding the launch faltered Thursday morning after a senior community member on Shiba Inu’s Discord channel voiced her concerns. Concerns came from the Shibarium beta testnet, which uses the same chain ID as an existing Blockchain. Community member Steve used the following statements:

Chain ID is the simplest thing any Blockchain developer looks for first when deploying a Blockchain. Using an already existing identity is inefficient, as your chain is not working properly and anyone trying to interact with your chain will instead interact with the other chain. Why does the Shibarium testnet seem to get the rinia testnet genesis file? Name changed from renia. But they forgot to change the chain id.

Worries gone

Developers and other prominent community members were quick to address the network’s concerns. A person named JesusM on his Discord channel said, “There is no evidence that this is a fork of a chain launched last month. The code is always forked. Moreover, there is no confirmation that it is,” he said. Discord user “Justinlime”, another network validator, said:

Even if some of the code was used in beta, it does not mean that all of it was used. To me, claims that the network is a direct fork, that nothing has changed, are dubious. Forking and building on already embedded software is the core foundation of what FOSS (free and open source software) stands for.

Shiba Inu ecosystem tokens BONE and LEASH have also dropped in the last 24 hours. BONE fell 22.2 percent from $1.54 to $1.19.

LEASH fell from $525.4 to $435.
