The number of electric cars continues to increase day by day. Thanks to the policies implemented by the countries and the climate agreements made, automobile manufacturers started to produce electric cars, leaving the internal combustion engines aside.

Electric car fires are talked about a lot in the press every year. Especially because it is a new technology, fires are criticized a lot. Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared how electric car fires will take place in the press in the future.

Elon Musk says EV fires will get less press coverage!

Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared a post on his Twitter account. In his post, Musk said that electric car fires will be reflected in very little press in the future. He shared the following words: “Now that the major automotive advertisers are producing EVs, you will see much less news about EVs catching fire. It is not surprising that cars with internal combustion engines also tend to burn externally.”

Elon Musk made this post in response to a tweet by a user named WholeMarsBlog. The user named WholeMarsBlog was talking about the fire statistics shared by the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) for every 100 thousand cars sold.

According to the data shared by the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board), 3,475 hybrid car fires, 1,530 internal combustion engine fires and 25 electric car fires occur out of every 100,000 cars sold. This statistic shows that electric cars have less fire risk.

In general, we see the news of electric car fires decreasing in the media. Electric car technology is not new to people, especially thanks to the increase in electric car sales in 2021 and the policies of countries. In addition, the production of EVs by major automobile manufacturers prevents this situation.

In the past years, automakers blamed Tesla in the news of EV fires and started to stay away from these shares when they produced electric cars themselves. Most likely, EV fires will not be covered in the press in the coming years. So, what are your thoughts? Do not forget to leave your comments and opinions below.
