“A glass of Joe has never tasted so good,” US President Joe Biden said on August 3. He shared an interesting video with his explanation. In the video in question, Biden drinks coffee from a glass with his photo and the words “2024” indicating the elections, “I like my coffee dark.” he was saying.
But an effect on Biden’s own photo sparked a stir in the cryptocurrency community. A glowing red laser effect was placed over Biden’s eyes. This laser effect had a meaning for Bitcoin.
Did Biden become a Bitcoiner?
The laser effect added to Biden’s eyes was an effect frequently used by Bitcoin enthusiasts in their profile photos. Especially in 2021, it showed itself in the trend that started on social media for the price of Bitcoin to exceed 100 thousand dollars.
Even Paris Hilton, Tom Brady and Elon Musk joined this movement. The effect symbolized bullish hope for Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency markets in general.
Naturally, Biden’s use of this effect was interpreted as supporting Bitcoin. However, the Biden administration has been fiercely opposed to cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin, and continues to do so.
So what’s the point?
In fact, it is far from Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. Biden’s painting was actually a reference to “Dark Brandon”, an alternative self created for him in the internet community. His statement “I like my coffee dark” proves this.
The first images containing references to Dark Brandon have also been used on the website for Biden’s election campaign since April 26.
