Chief designer of Apple Watch and iPhone is leaving
Tan currently reports to John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering. Following his departure from the company, Tan’s responsibilities will be shared within the scope of the reorganization of the hardware engineering team. Richard Dinh, who currently reports to Tan and leads iPhone product design, will expand his area of responsibility and begin reporting directly to Ternus. Hardware engineering manager Kate Bergeron, who currently oversees Mac, will also take over Apple Watch design.
The report states that Tan’s team had frequent control over product features, including the appearance of the devices and how they were designed. The report also notes that other Mac product design and iPhone hardware managers were recently alerted.
