WhatsApp continues to receive features that enhance the messaging experience. Support for sending HD quality photos and videos, which is already available on many competing platforms, will now be available in WhatsApp messaging.
WhatsApp gets HD photo and video support
According to the announcement shared by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, WhatsApp will allow users to send photos and videos without sacrificing resolution. The new update will be available simultaneously on Android, iOS and web versions.
The change, which will be released gradually over the next few weeks, will provide WhatsApp users with the opportunity to send HD quality photos via Android, iOS or the web. Photos sent in HD mode will have the “HD” icon in the lower left corner.
Enabling the high-quality photo sharing option is left to users. After uploading photos/videos to the chat, it will be enough to tap the “HD” icon next to the editing tools. In this way, standard or HD quality photos can be sent.
On the other hand, if the person receiving the high-quality photo has a bad internet connection, it will be downloaded first in the standard version. Then he will be able to download it again in HD quality if he wants. However, it is unclear how much the difference between file sizes will be.
WhatsApp will only allow sending HD photos at first. However, it should be noted that video support will also be available in the coming weeks.
It should be noted that the popular messaging platform is also working on features related to artificial intelligence. For example, with the new feature, WhatsApp will allow its users to create stickers with artificial intelligence.
