Rumors began to emerge earlier this month that Microsoft wanted to bring the artificial intelligence assistant Copilot to Windows 10, which seemed to have been planned only as a feature specific to Windows 11. It turns out these rumors were indeed true.

Last week, Microsoft announced that it would introduce Copilot in Windows 10, and Release Preview channel Insiders would be the first to try this capability. The company recently released Copilot on Windows 10 in the latest Windows 10 Release Preview build 19045.3757 under KB5032278.

In a new Tech Community blog post, Microsoft explained how Copilot can help users and why you need this feature regardless of whether you’re on a Windows 11 or Windows 10 PC, especially if you’re part of the IT workforce. Here’s Microsoft’s description: “Why should you try Copilot on Windows? People who work with information every day are excited about the capabilities of generative AI to help them discover and create new content. They may already be using generative AI by accessing Microsoft Copilot (formerly Bing Chat) or ChatGPT in the browser.

Copilot on Windows powers the productive AI experience on managed Windows 10 and 11 PCs. As an IT professional, you want to help your organization stay at the forefront of AI while also staying on top of protecting corporate data that employees can share with AI models. We’re here to help you do both. With Copilot on Windows, you can ensure employees don’t accidentally share confidential or proprietary information by delivering a managed version of Copilot to Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices.

Using Copilot, employees can:

* Save time and effort by requesting information and services in one place by typing requests in natural language or using their voice.

* Explore new possibilities and ideas by producing creative and innovative content that includes both text and images.”

In short, Microsoft wants both Windows 10 and Windows 11 users to use Copilot, and it is certain that we will see Copilot mentioned frequently for this.
