Now, a student who was his assistant at the time suggested that Gensler was in close contact with Binance CEO CZ during these years. He even shared that he helped forward a report on BNB to CZ.

Kenny’s connection with Gensler dates back to 2019, when Gensler was teaching at MIT. Kenny was Gensler’s assistant at the time. According to the experiences he clarified, Gensler helped him forward a report on BNB to CZ. The MIT student says his report on BNB caught Gensler’s attention and shared it with CZ himself.

Kenny states that he thought the following about the relationship between the two at the time:
“CZ’s reading of that report by Gensler inspired me to become more interested in crypto. Not just the report, my inspiration was the interaction between Gensler and CZ. I felt an opportunity for an innovative Blockchain future from both the regulator and the innovator.”
“Like watching your parents fight”
Kenny later expressed his excitement and happiness at meeting names like Gary Gensler and Changpeng Zhao. After being inspired by the relationship between the two during this period, he shared that he preferred to turn to the Web3 field. He interpreted the SEC’s lawsuits against Binance and Coinbase, which emerged this week, as an unfortunate outcome. According to Kenny, the conflict of these inspirations is “like watching your parents fight.”
“I wish the result was different”
Finally, Kenny said, “I wish the outcome had been different. I don’t have all the information and I know this is just the beginning. But I really hope that whatever comes out of this will take into account all the hard work the brightest minds have put in to change the world.”
Conflicts aside, Gary Gensler’s assistant, now at Mantanetwork, says he still trusts these names. Meanwhile, regarding Gensler and CZ’s intimacy years ago, Binance’s lawyers shared that the two met frequently.

According to the June 4 report from Binance lawyers, Gensler wanted to join Binance as an advisor in 2019. Lawyers reported that the duo had a face-to-face lunch meeting in Japan on this date. They wrote here that BNB and Binance are discussing opening an exchange in the US.
