Scientists answered: Do people with large noses also have large penises?

It has been debated for years whether there is a relationship between nose size and penis size. Forensic experts came together to end this debate of the years. And the result...

People with big noses may find the results of this review pleasing. A team of scientists examined the noses and genitals of recently deceased corpses to determine if the “big nose, large genitals” hypothesis was correct. Forensic scientists say they have indeed discovered such a size relationship.

For their study, the researchers examined 126 male bodies from April 2015 to March 2019, all of which were forensic autopsy cases at Kyoto Prefectural Medical University. All cadavers were aged between 30 and 50 years and had postmortem examinations within 3 days of their death, before any major deterioration occurred.

For the study, published in Basic and Clinical Andrology, the team determined the bodies’ height, weight, length, and the circumference of their erect penises and the weight of their testicles. Of course, it’s not really possible to induce an erection on a corpse, so “stretched penis length” was used instead. One researcher manually stretched the penises, and the researchers say this gives an accurate measurement of what the viable erection length would be.

The team found that the factors with the highest correlation were flaccid penile length and stretched penile length, which is not surprising. However, the next largest correlation was between nose size and stretched penis length. The bigger your nose, the bigger the “erect” penis looks like.

It is said that the size of your nose is not strongly correlated with the length of the flaccid penis. The team describes this as “the flexibility of a small, flaccid penis may be greater than that of a large, flaccid penis,” and adds: “The fact that nose size is associated with [stretched penis length] is that penile length cannot be determined by age, height, or body weight, but from birth. indicates that it has already been determined before.”

So how does this help forensics? Frankly, this data is of no use to forensics. If the team had found, for example, that penis length changes as you age, this could be used in conjunction with prostate volume (which increases as you age) to help determine age. As it stands, what they’ve discovered is interesting and could be useful with further research, but in its current form it’s nothing more than mere curiosity.

The team says in their article, “While our results are useless for forensic purposes, they may be crucial for understanding the growth process of the penis or facial features, predicting fetal androgen levels, and tracking male genital function,” adding that they will continue to examine the relationship. It is the first study to show an association between nose size and nose size, but is limited to Japanese male cadavers, and it is still unclear why SPU and nose size are related. So we think it’s an interesting topic to follow from now on.”

In addition, the team added to the research report that they found only a weak correlation between nose size and testicular weight.
