Facebook came up with a scandalous move. People who stand out on the popular social media platform are often given blue ticks. This system, in which celebrities are in the center, seems to be a headache due to Facebook’s fault.
Because the platform mistook a fan page for a real account and gave it a blue tick. It turned out that the page, which has 153 thousand followers, changed its name 6 times before and tried to defraud people.
Fake Elon Musk blue ticked thanks to Facebook
Under normal circumstances, the account holder, pretending to be Elon Musk, added a few phrases to his introduction stating that the page was created entirely for fans. Despite this, it turned out that the Facebook team started the blue tick program, thinking that Elon Musk was really using the account.

The account, which has been approved, surprised everyone by getting a blue tick. However, while it was learned that the owner of the page in question had an Egypt-based location, it did not go unnoticed that Elon Musk lived in Texas and this was not taken into account. The platform, which normally requests many documents for the approved account, gave a blue tick to the fan page without an application with an instant error.
But the story doesn’t quite end there. The account owner, who used 6 different names before and had only 10 posts on the page, was not very comfortable after the blue tick. Because, according to the information received, it was learned that the approved account was trying to defraud other Facebook users. The page, which entered some Bitcoin-based trials, was closed after the checks.

Facebook, which removed access to the page, did not make any statement. However, it is not known whether a move has been made against the account that owns the page. While the fan page, whose verification date is unknown, completes its journey, it seems that the blue tick issue will continue to cause headaches on social media platforms. Twitter has also dealt with similar problems and announced in 2017 that they paused the verification process. However, the platform started the approval period again at the beginning of this year. Let’s see what moves Facebook will take from now on. We’ll wait and see.
