New request from SBF’s lawyers

Sam Bankman-Fried can meet his lawyers in a courthouse room twice a week; however, lawyers say that this is insufficient for the preparation process for the hearing in October. Lawyers for the former CEO of FTX are urging that he be allowed out of jail, or at least to meet with his lawyers for five days a week, to review documents and prepare his defense ahead of the upcoming trial.

Currently, Bankman-Fried is able to meet with his lawyers at the courthouse twice a week; however, lawyers emphasize that this process is not sufficient for the preparation of the hearing. In order to prepare the defense effectively, Bankman-Fried needs to examine the documents from the discovery stage, analyze the online evidence and formulate the defense strategy. Lawyers state that a computer with internet access is important for this process.

Lawyers also say that Bankman-Fried is facing difficulties in the current circumstances. It is stated that the supplied laptop has limited battery life, no charging facility in the cell block, and the internet connection weakens in half of the sessions.

Earlier, Bankman-Fried stated that he spent 80-100 hours a week preparing his defense before his bail was revoked. But the former billionaire was sent to prison after being accused of communicating with his former colleague and ex-girlfriend and influencing witnesses. Bankman-Fried is facing accusations that it allegedly used billions of dollars in client assets for personal investments.
