READING NOW Saturn isn’t the only planet with impressive rings!

Launched in December 2021, the James Webb Space Telescope has been demonstrating its capabilities since July, with the completion of calibration studies. James Webb, the most powerful space telescope, shows us in detail what is happening in our galaxy and beyond.

James Webb views Neptune’s rings

The images taken by the James Webb Space Telescope are this time from Neptune. Although we usually know Saturn by its rings, Neptune also has a ring of celestial bodies, large and small, orbiting around it. James Webb presented these rings to us in the clearest way.

Neptune’s ring was previously observed by NASA’s Voyager 2 spacecraft, which launched in 1989. After a long time, Neptune’s impressive rings were revealed once again. NASA shared images taken by the James Webb Space Telescope.

The clearest images ever of the rings of the Gazage reveal many details. In addition to the bright rings of Neptune in the shared images, the strip of dust circulating around the planet was also revealed.

Webb also managed to image seven of Neptune’s 14 known moons. Don’t be fooled by the celestial body that stands out with its brightness in the shared images. This very bright celestial body isn’t a star, it’s just Neptune’s large and unusual moon, Triton.

Covered by a dense, frozen layer of nitrogen, Triton reflects an average of 70 percent of the sunlight hitting it. For this reason, it has overshadowed Neptune in the shared image. New Webb studies are scheduled for both Triton and Neptune next year.

Neptune looks at least as impressive as Saturn with its mystery and rings. So what do you think about Neptune and its rings? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
