According to a new industry report, development work continues on the Samsung Galaxy Ring. The name of one of Samsung’s key component suppliers for the Galaxy Ring has emerged, and the same company is also responsible for developing some of the hardware inside the Galaxy S23 series. Like many smart rings on the market, this ring will likely integrate with Samsung’s future AR headsets, along with health-related features.

Galaxy Ring is coming

Due to its size and internal space limitations, the Galaxy Ring seems to be really difficult to develop, as the device requires a smaller PCB (printed circuit board) than even smartwatches or wristbands. A new report indicates that the relevant PCB will be produced by Japanese Meiko. The same company had produced HDI PCBs for the Galaxy S23 series.

However, Samsung has applied for a patent for the Galaxy Ring, and the image above shows that it could integrate with Samsung’s AR headsets and glasses. In addition, the biggest problem with smart rings is that they should not be suitable for every finger. If the ring is too large on the finger, it may present false health reports through its sensors. The trademark of these devices is that they can perform more accurate health monitoring. It is unclear how Samsung will overcome this problem. On the other hand, the Galaxy Ring can be a useful accessory in various situations, but it is stated that Samsung has not yet decided whether the product is scalable. This indecision seems to exist not only on the producer side but also on the consumer side.
