The world’s most famous smartphone manufacturer, Samsung, seems to be obsessed with being a pioneer in folding screens in every field. In fact, they became so obsessed with folding screens that they were after a product whose necessity in terms of design features could be questioned. According to a new report, Samsung has filed a patent application for a hybrid laptop, where each part can be folded in half (that is, in a total of four).

Considering the events such as the failure of Samsung to receive the attention it expects from the Galaxy Fold series, considering its history with foldable screens, it can be thought that it will actually withdraw from this design. However, Samsung does not seem to be holding back, both with its new foldable screen smartphones and with this newly emerged foldable laptop patent. Let’s take a look at the patent.

According to the patent, this laptop will be able to fold into quarters, in both the X and Y axis, like a sheet of paper.

The patent application on the website of the international patent organization WIPO includes the design of a laptop with a removable keyboard unit. The screen part of the device can be used as a fully functional tablet and this touch interface can be accessed with a pen. With the screen being folded into four, the area occupied by the device is also considerably reduced.

The laptop’s keyboard unit also doubles up. The computer components under the keyboard part are also placed in accordance with the foldability. The emergence of such a patent application, of course, does not guarantee that the laptop will actually debut one day, but as a concept example, Samsung may well present it in the future.
