For the past few years, Samsung has placed more emphasis on MediaTek and Qualcomm chipsets in its smartphone and tablet lineup. This behavior, which is shown as the reason why Exynos’ market share has decreased in both global and US markets, is also reflected in the reports of Counterpoint Research and IDC.

According to new reports published by Counterpoint Research and IDC, the market share of Exynos has dropped below 5 percent globally. In the USA, this rate is less than 2%. While Samsung’s launching the Galaxy S22 series with Qualcomm processor models in our country this year supports this report, it also opens the door for MediaTek, which is seen as weak, to make significant progress.

MediaTek had a global market share of 37 percent in the 4th quarter of 2021, while Qualcomm’s market share increased from 23 percent to 30 percent in this process. , but still lags behind MediaTek. While Apple’s market share is 21 percent, it is clear that Exynos is far behind these three.

MediaTek, on the other hand, is the largest brand in terms of smartphone processor shipments in the US. The company had a 51 percent market share in the last quarter of 2021, while Qualcomm’s was 47 percent. The remaining 2 percent of the market is shared by Google’s Tensor and Samsung’s Exynos processors. Samsung’s use of MediaTek instead of chipsets with Exynos processors plays a big part in this. Well, the answer to the question why Samsung is doing this is a mystery for now. Maybe the company is getting ready to slowly kill the Exynos chipset. We’ll wait and see.
