The durability of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 continues to prove itself. A live folding test comparing the device to its closest competitor, the Motorola Razr 40, shows that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is ahead of the competition.
While the hinge and screen are damaged on the Razr 40, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 still stands strong. Testers are now trying some pretty interesting ways to test durability, and so far the Galaxy Z Flip 5 hasn’t surprised anyone.
The Motorola Razr 40’s hinge has its first problem at 40,000 fold counts, while the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has no issues at this point. Once 64,000 folds are reached, the Razr’s hinge starts to squeak badly and give up after a short while. Even the screen breaks after just over 126,000 folds.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5, on the other hand, passed 200,000 folds and continued to run smoothly. While this is the limit Samsung advertises, the device is obviously much more durable than Samsung advertised. Making the test even more interesting at over 275,000 unfolding points, the testers decided to perform the movements in a heated food display case.
The mechanism reached a maximum temperature of over 73°C and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 still continued to fold and unfold without any issues. The hinge did not malfunction and the screen did not melt. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 continued to work literally without breaking a sweat. This shows how impressive the new foldable phone is, that you can use it without any problems even in temperatures exceeding 70°C. However, if you find yourself in a place where the temperature is 70°C, the operation of your phone will probably be one of your least concerns.
The testing is still ongoing and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 refuses to give up, despite over 277,500 folds and unfolds.
