Android 14, which was announced by US-based technology giant Google a few months ago, is now in the distribution phase. Companies that produce phones with Android operating systems have started to deliver their interfaces equipped with the latest features to users. Of course, one of them is Samsung.
Samsung made a decision in 2021 and promised 4 years of Android updates for all its flagship phones and selected mid-range smartphones. This promise was a development that pleased the users because with this decision, a user would be able to use his phone with the latest Android features for 4 years. As a side note, let’s say that Google has been updating Android for 7 years.
Phones released in 2020 will not receive updates
Samsung’s decision did not cover 2020 model smartphones. As such, some very popular models of the brand will no longer receive updates. So the promise of 4 years of Android updates will not be valid for these phones. Some popular models that will not receive the Android 14-based One UI 6 update can be listed as follows:
- Galaxy S20 series
- Galaxy S20 FE
- Galaxy Note 20 series
- Galaxy A51/A51 5G
- Galaxy A71/A71 5G
- Galaxy Z Flip
To be frank, 4 years of Android updates is not very acceptable for today’s conditions. After all, Apple, Samsung’s biggest rival, continues its iOS updates for up to 6-7 years. In this case, an iPhone can be used for much longer with the most up-to-date features…
