Samsung Free, which has been on Samsung phones for a long time, was first added to devices with One UI 3.0, and it suddenly appeared, confusing many users about where it came from.

Acting as a content hub that brings together live TV, podcasts, news articles and interactive games in one place, all content on Samsung Free is free, as the name suggests. It is possible to access Samsung Free by swiping the Home screen to the left.

This Samsung Free is on the verge of a big change. It will now greet users with the name Samsung News and in the same place.

This development originally meant a rebrand. Samsung Free will henceforth be known as Samsung News. The updated experience combines the “Read” and “Listen” tabs. It will also focus more on news content and make it easier for users to find and interact with news on their phones.

As part of this name change, the “Watch” and “Play” tabs will no longer be available. This is another indication that Samsung wants to focus primarily on news with this update. Samsung will gradually roll out this update from April 18.

It looks like Samsung wants the feature to work as a Google Discover competitor. We will see how successful it will be in this aim only in time.
