READING NOW Samsung users have made their choice: get the Galaxy S24 a Snapdragon processor or an Exynos processor?

The Snapdragon vs Exynos debate has been going on among Samsung users for many years now. Samsung has long tried to bring its own special chipsets, namely Exynos, to the fore, but the performance shortcomings compared to its rival Snapdragon could not be ignored. While Samsung’s flagship phones ship with Exynos chipsets to most markets, few have been lucky enough to have Snapdragon variants.

Snapdragon processors not only delivered marginally better performance, but their thermal efficiency was better and battery life was noticeably better than Exynos variants. This meant that when you buy a Galaxy S22 Ultra in Asia and compare it to a device sold in the United States, it will be the same device but the experience will be quite different.

The company took a different approach with the Galaxy S23 series, which it launched this year. The series has decided to use a specially designed Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset in all manufactured units. Fans welcomed the move. The Galaxy S23 series has been one of the most successful Galaxy S series in recent years. Customers around the world were happy to finally have a consistent user experience. Those who delayed upgrading their phones in anticipation of this change immediately bought the new model.

However, there have been rumors lately that Samsung may be bringing back the Exynos chipset with the Galaxy S24 series that will be released next year. The company is reportedly working on the Exynos 2400 SoC, which will be introduced alongside next year’s flagship series. It is known that the Exynos 2400 variants will be sold in certain regions worldwide, but it is currently unclear whether it will be as common as the Exynos variants before it.

As you can imagine, this prospect did not please many Samsung fans. First of all, they don’t understand why Samsung would want to put their customers in this situation again, even though it’s been tremendously acclaimed with the Galaxy S23 series. Maybe it’s a purely commercial decision for the company or a matter of pride.

Samsung fans don’t want Exynos

Regardless, it looks like Samsung fans won’t be happy with this use case. SamMobile asked the 200,000-strong Samsung fan community on Twitter which of the two chipsets they would prefer. Not surprisingly, 83% of survey respondents preferred Snapdragon. Only 7% prefer Exynos, 10% believe this should not even be a question anymore and say Samsung should go for Snapdragon anyway.

It is clear that Samsung will have an explanation for this change if the Galaxy S24 models with Exynos processors return, but it is also clear that the fans will not swallow it. They will probably give their answer by not buying the Galaxy S24. Maybe this will push them to buy one of Samsung’s foldable devices, because they all have Snapdragon chipsets.
