Samsung Display, the unit responsible for the display panels of South Korean technology giant Samsung, held an event recently. As part of this event, the company made statements about the latest display panels. A leaked image from the event reveals what kind of screen the smartphones that will be released by Apple, one of the biggest customers of Samsung and Samsung Display, will have in the coming years.
In a news we shared with you a few weeks ago, we mentioned that Apple is “narrowing” Samsung and LG in terms of OLED display panels. According to the information obtained, Apple wanted completely frameless display panels to be produced. The event held by Samsung Display reveals that Apple’s request was accepted and the engineers were able to produce a frameless display panel.
Here’s what the screen on future iPhone models will look like:
We do not have detailed information about the event held by Samsung Display, but we can understand that in the leaked image, the transformation of smartphone screens over time is mentioned. In this context; It is clearly shown that Apple and Samsung’s old phones have moved from the notched structure to the perforated structure, and the new trend will be frameless and curved screens. Of course, as the end consumer, when we can use the phones with these screen panels is unknown for now. Leading leak sources from the display industry, such as Ross Young, point to 2025 and beyond for such displays.
Under-screen camera technologies will develop parallel to frameless displays
The leaked image reveals what bezel-less displays will look like, as well as other work in the display industry. In this context; We see that good progress has been made for under-screen camera (UPC) technologies. Samsung Display has increased its light transmittance to over 50 percent. In addition, the pixel structure is optimized for the lower part of the display panel. It looks like Samsung Display will lead the way for new trends in the smartphone industry in a few years.
