Samsung introduced the new OLED panel they designed for folding smartphones. Introduced at CES 2023, the screen can be folded both inwards and outwards.

The fold mark is almost invisible.

The new OLED display, which Samsung Display calls Flex In & Flex Out, has a 360-degree hinge that allows the screen to fold in and out. Samsung says it uses a new type of hinge to make the fold mark less noticeable. The new hinge folds the screen loosely with the case, allowing for less strain on the screen.

Gapless design

Introduced at a fair held in South Korea before CES, Samsung Flex In & Out also eliminates the noticeable gap when the device is folded. As you know, Samsung’s latest folding phones Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 have a U-shaped hinge that makes the screen fold prominently visible.

The company’s competitors introduced their devices using the new hinges. Samsung is also expected to introduce it with the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
