Samsung Electronics has announced that its Samsung Display division plans to invest 4.1 trillion won ($3.14 billion) in OLED display production by 2026. The resource, which is planned to be used in Asan, South Korea, will help expand production and thus meet increasing demand.

He claims that Samsung is trying to establish a long-term relationship with Apple. There are rumors that Samsung Display has signed a large-scale contract to produce displays for the new MacBook and iPad series devices. It should be noted that since the display factories of local competitor LG are working at maximum capacity, they are not able to receive new orders at the moment.

It stopped production of LCD panel

Samsung Display had previously stopped LCD panel production, unable to withstand the competition from BOE and AU Optronics. The company sold most of its former LCD manufacturing facilities to international competitors and has since focused on QD-OLED display technology for televisions. Now it is trying to strengthen its hand in premium OLED solutions for a very “solid” customer.

Japanese OLED display maker JOLED announced last week that it will shut down. The company in question had contracts with Apple, ASUS, Eizo, LG and Sony. Interestingly, the news of Samsung’s expansion of OLED production coincided with the news of the shutdown of JOLED. It seems that for most of these brands mentioned, the Samsung Display path will appear.
