Samsung achieved its sales target in 2021
Samsung shared how foldable smartphone sales are in a blog post it shared recently. The South Korean company said it sold four times more foldable phones throughout 2021 than it did in 2020. However, the company’s two flagships in the smartphone market, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, managed to outsell all Samsung foldable devices in 2020, in just the first month of 2021.
Although this statement of selling four times more is promising for foldable smartphones, the famous company did not choose to share exact sales data. However, market analysts predict that foldable smartphone shipments may reach 9 million in 2021.
Again, market analysts state that Samsung’s total market share constitutes 88 percent of the foldable phone pie. In this sense, the expected sales figure of around 9 million in total can be expected to be around 7 million. Analysts, taking into account the margin of error, state that Samsung has reached a sales figure in the single-digit millions, although there is a small possibility that it may have exceeded 10 million.
Considering that Samsung’s strong competitors such as Huawei and Oppo have also entered the foldable smartphone market, this sector is expected to gain at least 10 times more value in 2023.
