Samsung Started Removing the Letter Z from Galaxy Z Foldable Phones

Samsung has begun removing the Z branding it uses on foldable Galaxy Z phones, at least in some countries. This is probably because the letter Z has become the symbol of the Russian army invading Ukraine.

Samsung was one of the companies that showed its reaction against Russia in the ongoing war in Ukraine. And it has now emerged that the South Korean company will no longer use the “Z” branding on Samsung, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 foldable phones, at least for some markets.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are now listed as Galaxy Fold 3 and Galaxy Flip 3 on all of Samsung’s Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania websites. The difference seen between the URL and the product page confirms that this change is fairly recent. Interestingly, the Z brand still remains on Samsung’s Ukrainian website, and it’s an interesting situation considering that Ukraine should be the first place to delete the symbol.

Samsung has not yet made an official statement on the subject. It is clear why Samsung made this decision. The “Z” symbol is a symbol that has become almost synonymous with the Russian army over the past few years.
