Resolution isn’t the only factor that determines image quality when shooting a video. Whether you are shooting video in 4K or 8K resolution, the quality of the video depends on the bits of data processed into the file in one second.
With its latest flagship series Galaxy S23, Samsung has done a great favor to those who like to shoot videos on this subject and offered 200 Mb / s bitrate to users. However, this beauty has been silently removed with its last update for no reason.
The bitrate of the videos on the Samsung Galaxy S23 series was only 80 Mb/s!
Samsung has disabled the “High bitrate” setting in the camera settings. The aforementioned setting has been removed only in the case of shooting videos with 8K resolution and 30 FPS. With this setting disabled, videos can only be shot with a bitrate of 80 Mb/s.
On the other hand, it is not yet clear with which update the feature was disabled. Some users state that this feature has been removed with the last software update, while others state that this change has occurred with the new version of the Camera app. Samsung recently upgraded the Camera app from 13.1.01.28 to 13.1.01.35.
High bitrate at 8K 30 FPS was already causing problems:
Samsung Galaxy S23 users were already encountering problems, even though it had a high bitrate option. After some shots, stuttering was seen in the output of the videos. So the reason behind Samsung’s removal of the feature may be to find a solution to this problem.
Of course, it will only be clear in the coming weeks whether the feature is permanently or temporarily removed.
