Data from research firms Canalys and Counterpoint reveal the global mobile market in the first quarter of 2022. According to Canalys data, 311.2 million smartphones were sold in the first quarter of 2022. The first quarter of 2022 showed an 11% decrease compared to 2021. 73.7 million of these sales were made by Samsung, but Samsung showed a decrease with the global market and experienced a performance loss of 4% compared to 2021.

Counterpoint data shows different numbers, but Samsung is also in the leadership seat in these data. It seems that Samsung has regained its leadership position in the smartphone market with a 23% market share. Apple is second with a market share of 18%. The role of the Galaxy S22 series is great in this success of Samsung. Attracting Note fans, especially with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung seems to have made a logical move. Samsung’s momentum will continue until the middle of the year, but with the launch of the iPhone 14 series, the leadership position in the market may change again.
