Samsung introduced many new semiconductor technologies and chips during the System LSI Tech Day 2023 event. However, perhaps the most important of these may be Exynos 2400. This processor, Samsung’s next-generation high-end smartphone processor, replaces the Exynos 2200, which was released in 2022 and introduced with the Galaxy S22. Moreover, the Galaxy S24 series will use this processor in many regions.

Samsung offered an early look at the Exynos 2400 during the SLSI Technology Day event in San Jose, California, USA. The company focuses mainly on artificial intelligence and generative artificial intelligence for all its new semiconductor technologies and products, and the situation is no different for Exynos 2400.

Samsung claims that the Exynos 2400 offers 70% faster CPU performance and an incredible 14.7x faster AI processing power compared to the Exynos 2200. At the same time, this new chip also includes the Xclipse 940 GPU, which is based on AMD’s latest GPU architecture RDNA3. Previous leaks claimed that this new chip has 6 WGP (Workgroup Processor) from the GPU side.

Improved gaming and ray tracing performance

The South Korean company says that the Xclipse 940 GPU offers advanced gaming and ray tracing performance. The company showed off the significantly improved ray tracing capabilities of the Exynos 2400 during a live demo at the event. It offered improved realism in games through ray tracing technologies such as global illumination, more accurate reflections, and shadow rendering.

On the AI capabilities front, Samsung has introduced a new AI tool designed for upcoming smartphones (likely the Galaxy S24 series) that can display productive text-to-image AI using the Exynos 2400 chipset. In the demonstration, a reference card was used to measure the performance of the Exynos 2400 processor.

Yong-In Park, Business Division Manager and President of Samsung Electronics System LSI, said in his statement: “Generative artificial intelligence, which demands stronger core technologies to process data and implement artificial intelligence, has rapidly emerged as perhaps the most important trend of the year. “We are paving the way for a new era of proactive AI by leveraging our Samsung System LSI Humanoid platform, which seamlessly combines our capabilities across a wide range of logical semiconductors, from powerful computational IPs to connectivity solutions and sensors that mimic the basic five human senses.”

The company, which introduced many different new technologies and products during the event, is expected to announce more details about Exynos 2400 soon.
