Transparent screen phones have been on the agenda of the technology world for a long time. Even if we do not have a smartphone with a transparent screen yet, it seems that South Korea-based technology giant Samsung plans to evaluate this feature in its future models.
According to newly released documents, Samsung, which is known to be working on phones with rollable screens for a while, wants to add transparent screens to the equation. SamMobile reports that Samsung has also applied to WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) for transparent phone displays.
It may even be possible to adjust the opacity of the transparent screen
Accordingly, there are two different designs in the application; However, it is stated that both of them have a transparent part of the phone screen extending from the main screen. It looks like it might even be possible to adjust the opacity of this extended part.
It is stated in the documents that this type of technology can be extremely beneficial, especially for augmented reality. Accordingly, thanks to the aforementioned extended screen section, it may be possible to display digital objects while everything in the real world is visible. For example, with this feature, it may become easier for you to see targets while hunting in an augmented reality game. However, when you focus on typing something on your phone while walking, this feature can greatly reduce your chances of bumping into something.
Of course, as is always the case with such applications, there is no guarantee that we will see such technology on a real smartphone anytime soon. But it still gives us an idea of what possibilities the engineers at Samsung are working on for future technologies.
