Samsung Galaxy S25 series can receive unlimited updates
Apple offers update support for its phones for 5 years from the year it was released, and then does not provide software support after occasional security updates. The same situation exists for Samsung. A few years ago, Samsung announced that it would provide update support for 7 years from the release date of the phones. However, according to the latest claims, the company is changing this situation with the new Galaxy S25 series.
It is claimed that with the new Samsung Galaxy S25 series, the update policy will be throughout the life of the phone, not limited to 7 years. Accordingly, Samsung will support the phone until the latest compatible Android update and will continue to continuously release security patch updates for the phone thereafter. Updates are expected to be made using the A/B update method. Google introduces the A/B update method in 2016.
According to this method, the new security software is installed in the phone while the existing software of the phone is running. Afterwards, the user completes the update by restarting the phone. However, it is thought that Android updates will be installed manually as they are now. The A/B software update method is not a software issue, it is provided by hardware installed inside the phone. In other words, A/B software support cannot be provided to a phone later with software. Samsung comes with A/B update support on the Samsung Galaxy A55, which was released earlier this year.
