The resolution increase in cameras will apparently continue to increase without slowing down. ISOCELL cameras with incredibly high resolutions like 200MP have been in Samsung’s range for a while, and the company is including them in high-end flagships like the Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, new information claims that Samsung is preparing 3 new sensors for 2024, one of which is 440MP.

440MP camera is coming from Samsung

According to the statements, Samsung is working on three new sensors, 50MP, 200MP and 440MP. The smallest of these in terms of resolution, the 50MP GN6 sensor will have a pixel size of 1.6μm. Also under development are the 200MP HP7 with 0.6μm pixel size and the 440MP HU1 whose pixel size is still unclear.

Exact details are unclear but according to the source, all sensors will go into mass production in the second half of 2024. However, there is no information about devices that will use these sensors. On the other hand, if they enter mass production next year, we may see them in the Galaxy S25 series. However, currently no mobile chip supports a resolution of 440MP. That’s why future chipsets should also support this sensor.

In addition, it should be noted that increasing the resolution will decrease the return after a point. Therefore, it should be said that manufacturers will have to resort to other ways, such as increasing the physical size of the sensors.
