Members of this group are giving up their Android devices and switching to iPhones, according to a new report based on a study of South Korean youth under the age of 30. Even in South Korea, where Samsung is headquartered, young people are prominent when it comes to switching from Android to iPhone. This trend, which has been taking place in almost all countries recently, has also started to emerge in South Korea.

Young people are more enthusiastic about switching from Android to iPhone!

According to a study by Counterpoint Research, 85 percent of South Koreans bought an Android phone as their first smartphone. However, the report states that 53 percent of them now use an iPhone. In South Korea, 92 percent of people under the age of 30 whose first phone is an iPhone continue to use an iPhone. In other words, when we look at the transition as the opposite, iPhone users do not want to switch to Android.

Counterpoint interviewed 1,000 South Koreans in the first half of this year and concluded that the majority of people under the age of 30 chose Android as their first device, either by their parents or by their own purchasing power. In other words, the idea that this seems to be a necessity, not an option, came to the fore. Another reason for this was the idea of supporting companies belonging to their own countries such as Samsung and LG.

So why did these young people switch from Android to iPhone? The first two responses to this question were “Performance” (32 percent) and “Brand image” (31 percent). The biggest impact on these young Korean consumers was performance, satisfaction and expectation with the iPhone’s cameras.

We talked about the 92 percent of people who bought an iPhone as their first phone and still have an iPhone to this day. Of those people, 76 percent said they don’t want to use an Android phone in the future. 52 percent announced their decision to stay away from Android phones forever. Many people gave the reason for this as performance.
