Samsung is very interested in wireless charging technology for mobile devices. A new patent of the company explains the operation of a station that charges technological devices without direct contact with them.
According to the patent description, Samsung’s fully wireless charging consists of two parts: a base station and a resonator. The resonator can be installed both at the station itself and at a distance away from it, thereby increasing the charging range. As a result, 360-degree energy transfer is realized around the transmitter and resonator.
Will Samsung be able to commercialize this technology?
As shown in the picture, various technological devices can be charged wirelessly, including smartphones, headphones, smart watches and more. On the other hand, the patent does not include any information about the maximum distribution distance of the energy, the power and the number of simultaneously charged devices.
It’s worth noting that Motorola, OPPO, and Xiaomi have already demonstrated working wireless charging prototypes. But so far, no company has been able to offer a commercial off-the-shelf solution.
