It is said that Samsung may adopt different cost-cutting strategies for the base Galaxy S23 model, which is scheduled to go on sale early next year. So how will the company do this?
While the Galaxy S23 Ultra represents Samsung’s best flagship phone attempt for 2023, we may see some of its features reduced or dropped in the standard Galaxy S23. According to a rumor, one of the areas where such a drop can be seen is the vibration motor, i.e. haptic feedback.
This could mean that the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra will get better haptic feedback than the 2022 models, while the Galaxy S23 will not. That is, the haptic feedback engine of the phone may not be “consciously” improved over its more expensive models. This, in turn, will bring the chance to buy a cheaper Galaxy S23.
This choice is of course open to interpretation. If this move happens, one more will join the consciously made differences between the expensive and cheap options among the new phones, only in terms of configuration. On the other hand, even if we assume that this rumor is true, there is no guarantee that the basic Galaxy S23 will be cheaper than the Galaxy S22. Samsung may also try to fill the FE (Fan Edition) gap with a more affordable Galaxy S23. On the other hand, reports dating back to the summer suggested that the FE series could return in 2023. However, Samsung has not launched a new S22 FE model this year.
