1-inch type sensors are now becoming popular in smartphone cameras. These new sensors, which are close to 1 inch in size but are introduced as 1 inch as a marketing tactic, are also on Samsung’s table.Samsung ISOCELL HW1 and HW2
Two new sensors developed under the Samsung ISOCELL series will appear in the new flagships. Both sensors have 432MP resolution but are separated by minor differences.
The ISOCELL HW1 sensor has a size of 1/1.05 inch and a pixel size of 0.56 microns. The ISOCELL HW2 sensor comes next with a size of 1/1.07 inch and a pixel size of 0.5 microns. It is also stated that these sensors create much sharper images by combining 36 pixels into a single pixel.
It is not yet known in which smartphones Samsung ISOCELL HW1 and HW2 sensors will be used, but it is expected in the Galaxy S25 series at the earliest. On the other hand, it is also among the information that a 200MP resolution ISOCELL HP5 sensor has been prepared for the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
