Repairing smartphones is a process that can be quite annoying. If there is no short repair process in front of you, you will first back up the data, reset the phone, and then hand over your smartphone to the repair shop. Then you need to transfer your data to the phone again, log in to your accounts again.
As a solution to this problem, Samsung offers the new Repair Mode feature to its users. Thanks to this mode, it will be possible to prevent access to sensitive information on the phone. Repairmen will only have access to standard applications. When we consider the prices of electronic devices, the convenience of being repaired is of great importance.
No more backup troubles
The phone will restart itself when the feature, which can be accessed from the Battery and Device Care menu in the Settings, is activated. After that, all personal data and sensitive content will be hidden. This will include photos, messaging apps, accounts, and even apps that aren’t originally installed on the device.
When the phone is repaired, it will be possible to restore the device and access personal data by making a pattern or scanning a fingerprint. Once this is done, the phone will reboot once again. The settings changed in the technical service will also be restored.
In addition, there will be a system that keeps track of the latest problems on the phone. Thus, it will be easier to find the cause of the problem, but any personal information will not be included in these records. Repair mode can also be used without activating the registration system.
The feature will first be available in South Korea and on the Galaxy S21 series with a software update. In the statement made by the company, it was stated that this feature could later spread to other models. It looks like Samsung will open this feature to new regions and models after testing it.
