Working as the display unit of South Korean technology giant Samsung, Samsung Display introduced remarkable products at an event it organized. One of them was a new OLED screen. Samsung has integrated features into its new OLED display that we wouldn’t expect to have on a screen.

The new OLED screen produced by Samsung Display can measure blood pressure and stress with its built-in fingerprint reader sensor. Let me underline here; This screen has a fingerprint reader sensor. In other words, we are not talking about the fingerprint reader sensor placed under the screen, which we see on smartphones. Samsung Display’s new technology has been recorded as a world first.

Introducing Samsung’s OLED display with fingerprint reader

The state-of-the-art OLED display includes light sensing technology at the bottom of each pixel. This makes this OLED display even more unique. Thanks to this screen, blood pressure and stress can be measured on multiple fingers at the same time. A Samsung Display employee who made a statement about the screen said: In order to measure a person’s blood pressure in the most accurate way, it is necessary to measure the blood pressure of both arms. Our OLED screen senses the fingers of both hands simultaneously, providing more accurate health information than current wearables.

Samsung Display’s new OLED screen is designed to be integrated into products such as smartphones and tablets. This has several advantages. The fact that the screen can read fingerprints will eliminate the need for a second sensor. This will reduce costs. On the other hand; The second sensor will not need to occupy a certain area in the phone. This will also save space. Whether we’ll see Samsung’s new OLED display on a smartphone someday remains a mystery for now.
