The first gaming monitor to use Samsung’s QD-OLED panels originally came from Alienware earlier in the year. On the other hand, Samsung introduced its QD-OLED panels at the CES 2022 event and announced that its new panels will be on more than one monitor in the future. Now, Samsung is integrating these panels into its high-end products with the Odyssey OLED G8 player monitor it announced.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 specifications

The new monitor added to Samsung’s premium-focused Odyssey lineup will come with the model number G85SB and will be unveiled at IFA 2022. The Odyssey OLED G8 comes with a 34-inch QD-OLED panel. On the resolution side, the monitor, which offers 3440 x 1440 pixels, will display a 1800R curved structure with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The model, which will cover 99.3 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut, will come to the fore with features such as 0.1 ms response time and 175 Hz screen refresh rate.

On the design side, premium features welcome us. The frame and stand of the Odyssey OLED G8 are made of metal. However, this stand can only be used to adjust height and screen tilt, it does not offer options such as rotating the screen. However, as can be seen from the images of the monitor, there is a wide RGB lighting on the back of the device. Although this lighting increases the visuality, it causes the absence of VESA support. So the lack of VESA support for usability is a significant loss.

Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 release date

However, strangely, Odyssey OLED G8 has placed its HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 connections on the monitor in Micro and Mini format. While it is unclear whether the adapter will be included in the box content, it should be noted that Samsung’s Gaming Hub and Smart Platform features are built into the monitor. The Odyssey OLED G8 G85SB won’t go on sale before the end of the year. In addition, Samsung has not shared a price information for now, but the Alienware AW3423DW, which offers similar features, was released at a price of $ 1,300. So we can expect close pricing.
