Samsung Electronics announced the world first LPDDR5X DRAM chip. In a statement released by the company, the company stated that compared to LPDDR5 DRAM memory, the LPDDR5X works 1.3 times more performance. He also emphasized that it offers 20 percent lower power consumption.

SangJoon Hwang, Head of Samsung DRAM Design Team, said, “Our LPDDR5X; It will extend the use of high-performance, low-power memory beyond smartphones. It will bring new capabilities to artificial intelligence-based edge applications such as servers and even cars.”

Thanks to LPDDR5X DRAM, we will be able to see 64GB of RAM

Samsung said that LPDDR5X DRAM will meet the speed, capacity and power-saving needs of 5G supported applications in the future. According to the information released, 16Gb LPDDR5X DRAM will be able to process data up to 8.5 gigabits per second (Gbps). The chip, produced by utilizing 14nm DRAM process technology, will offer 20 percent more power savings.

The processing speed of the LPDDR5 memory chip was 6.4Gbps. With the LPDDR5X DRAM, the company has both increased speed and increased RAM capacity. We will now be able to see 64GB of Random Access Memory (RAM) on smartphones.

The South Korean company emphasized the world of Augmented Reality, artificial intelligence and digital reality in its statement. Stating that it will cooperate with global chipset manufacturers in order to expand its field of activity in these sectors, Samsung stated that LPDDR5X technology will play a big role in this sense.

Samsung will not only use the new DRAM chip it has developed on smartphones. As it is understood from the statement, it will also feature on tablets, laptops and even AR (Augmented Reality), VR (Virtual Reality) and MR (Mixed Reality) areas.

To remind you, RAMs with LPDDR5 technology were used in the Galaxy S20 and S21 series. The LPDDR5X DRAM chip is expected to be found in the Galaxy S22 series, which is expected to be introduced in 2022. It is claimed that it can also be used in Galaxy Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra models that will be released in the same year.
